Convenient for parking as car park right outside and charges reasonable. However caf has a rather limited range of meals and cakes or snacks if just having coffee. Music ok but rather loud if you're trying to have a conversation and sadly have to say limited number of tables and seating pretty uncomfortable.

Strange atmosphere, music a bit too hectic for us, couldn't relax.. Staff was a bit uncharismatic..they looked startled when spoken to..But this was only on one visit on a late Monday afternoon..

Delicious freshly cooked food in an informal setting. Lots of salad and quiche options. Reasonable prices and busy, to the point of needing more seating- which speaks volumes about how good it is!!

My mum and I came across Backyard on our day out in lewes. The place is small, nice for a quick coffee, but, I found myself always feeling like I was in the way all the time, even my dog got trodden on! I ordered a roast pepper sandwich from a smiley younger girl at the till. After ordering our food we found there was absolutely no seating left.We were going to cancel our food, so we went to the till and asked if we could cancel our order as there were no seating. A red-headed man who seemed really stressed, rudely told us we should just perch on another table with people already sitting there. Which we couldnt do as there was no chairs and the table was exstemely small. When we eventually got seats, a girl came over and sprayed the table infrount of us to clean the table (as someone who has had a lot of experience in hospitality) spraying a table without spraying into a cloth first isnt ideal. My roast pepper sandwich arrived, it was wayyyyyy too sweet, drizzled in sweet chilli source! There was no cutlery or napkins or salt or pepper or sugar, and when I asked if we could have some sugar the red-headed man told me with attitude that I will find one on another table. Then a man with a beanie and tattoos (who I think is the barista) came over and placed sugar on the table... with a frustrated expression on his face. This really isnt acceptable. The food was over priced and most of the staff were rude. It was actually the younger girls that had the patients and politeness that the rest of the staff should have.

Happy hour cocktails on a Fri and Sat are great value and interesting combos. The DJ was an original touch but rather loud in a small space
